What I do

CSS

Working with the latest CSS guidelines I create sites that are accessible and user friendly. I use bootstrap but quite often write CSS from scratch that is responsive and cross-browser. With RES I was active in getting the brand consistent, and now work in a small team to keep it so.

HTML

It’s the backbone of the internet, and I like to work with static HTML5 and CSS to make my sites as streamlined as possible. I also work with CMS systems like WordPress and Umbraco.

Video

As a cost cutting exercise, RES started to film all interviews in-house. and I worked out how to get similar looks from after effects in Premiere Pro in regard to text transitions. This became a keystone to building the department.

Who is this Jonathan bloke?

I’m a friendly, client-facing digital designer and content provider with strong CSS, HTML and video editing capabilities, skilled at providing digital content and website build.

My home is in the Cotswolds next to a wood on the side of a hill, shared with my family, dog and two cats that pretty much ignore me unless they want something. I’m also an avid bushcrafter and have spent several years learning about the environment and how this is changing, can light a fire with found materials, fire a bow (including homemade arrows that have heads made from teaspoons) and forage.

Evenings and weekends are usually spent tinkering in the shed, outdoors, playing playstation or sitting with a decent book.

Digital Developer

Video editor and web manager. Working with Adobe Creative Suite and Visual Studio to work within and evolve the brand, creating external and internal media as part of a small brand team. This includes producing and editing video, cleaning up audio, continual development on company websites, coordination with the IT department to upgrade backend systems and server mangement and managing the work of external development agencies.


Web Designer

Initially employed as a web designer at RES. Using my previous knowledge of animation and learning templating for the Umbraco CMS, it expanded into more of a multimedia role. Working with the senior graphic designer to tidy up the brand, initially with simple things like creating full vector logos to use with the web, optimising images and simplifying colours to use as a pallette, and working with IT to ensure the web infrastructure was secure, both with online CMS systems used and SSL authentication for all websites. This has since expanded into a fully developed brand.
